Garden Maintenance Supervisor
Dana has years of experience gardening and working w/ plants in many different capacities. She gained ornamental gardening experience as an intern @ the Phipps Conservatory in Pennsylvania. She has worked on an organic farm and is experienced in the practice of sustainable agriculture. An herb enthusiast, Dana has received certification in Herbalism from the School of Traditional Western Herbalism in Portland, OR. She is also interested in Permaculture and is working toward a Permaculture Design Certification at the Planet Repair Institute here in Portland, OR.
Rodger has a BS Degree in Organic & Sustainable Horticulture from Michigan State University. He relocated to Oregon from Michigan in 2018, and this is his second season working for Smiling Gardens. Rodger has years of experience working w/ plants in both gardens and nurseries. He especially enjoys working with and learning native plants. He is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys hiking and camping.
Becky is a born and raised Portlander. Having previously worked as a floral designer, she is creatively inspired by the natural world. She has interned as an Environmental Educator at the Audubon Society of Portland, and volunteered at their Wildlife Care Center where she worked first hand with native wildlife. She has a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of San Francisco, where she gained experience working in urban community gardens. She is interested in native species conservation, organic gardening, permaculture and design.
Mahalah has a strong passion for horticulture and approaches her work with deep curiosity and consideration. She worked for a garden center/nursery in California for 2 years where she gained knowledge of various plant species and their needs. She has worked on urban and rural farms and is passionate about regenerative agriculture. Mahalah enjoys traveling, learning about plants and growing food.
